May 20, 2025 — ND Defense continues to advance in the U.S. Marine Corps’ Medium Tactical Truck (MTT) modernization effort, following the company’s recent Phase II prototype contract award. The contract, valued at $17.2 million, builds on earlier Phase I work and brings the total ceiling value for ND Defense’s awards under the program to $24.2 million.
ND Defense’s MTT design is derived from the company’s ATLAS® vehicle platform, a modular, highly adaptable architecture engineered to support a wide range of logistics and mobility missions. During Phase II, ND Defense will complete final vehicle design activities, develop control software, build prototypes, and prepare the platform for internal testing.
The Marine Corps is pursuing a next-generation tactical truck fleet that prioritizes mobility, energy efficiency, and operational flexibility across expeditionary environments. Requirements for the cargo variant—the initial focus of the MTT program—include hybrid-electric capability, extended range, improved off-road performance, and the ability to support multiple cargo bed configurations.
ND Defense’s ATLAS-based solution is designed to meet these emerging needs while providing a path for future technology insertion.
According to the Department of Defense, prototype construction for Phase II is scheduled for completion by May 2026. An eight-month government test period (Phase III) will follow, extending into early FY27. Results from this phase will help determine the platform selected for full-rate production.
